Why Table? It makes the rows easier to verify before download. Stacked, Line and Area change the visualisation, not the evidence this tool needs. Add filters only when you deliberately want to analyse one subscription, resource group or service.

A two-minute export
Give the tool enough context to make the comparison useful.
In Azure Portal, open Cost Management + Billing → Cost Management → Cost analysis → Daily costs. Keep the default cost metric, use no budget, Group by Resource, choose Daily granularity, Table display and no filters. Select ideally the last three complete months, click Download, then choose Save as CSV.

Keep the useful columns
Date, cost, currency, service, resource ID and resource group are the core set. Tags, PricingModel and ChargeType improve ownership and commitment checks.

Use the original CSV
Do not paste the bill into a spreadsheet and re-save selected rows. That can change dates, decimal separators and quoted resource IDs.

Read findings as questions
A large charge is not automatically waste. The teardown tells you where evidence is concentrated and what to validate next—not what to switch off.
What a billing export knows
It can show where the number changed.
- Comparable month-on-month cost movement
- Services carrying most of the increase
- Reservation, Savings Plan and purchase signals
- Missing tags, resource IDs and allocation context
- Resource names and types that deserve an owner check
What it cannot know
It cannot tell you what is load-bearing.
- Whether a VM is oversized safely
- Whether a disk or public IP is still attached
- Whether traffic, batch jobs or failover need the headroom
- Who owns the workload and can approve the risk
- What the rollback path looks like
How the teardown thinks
Azure gives you line items. This connects them into decisions.
The teardown separates billed movement from recurring operating movement, classifies resource-level changes and exposes the evidence gaps that must be closed before anyone touches production.
Reconcile
If the latest month is incomplete, it compares equivalent days and separates purchase charges from the operating run rate.
Classify
It distinguishes new-to-period, growing, reduced and disappeared resource cost, then measures concentration, ownership and daily patterns.
Stop safely
The tool proposes validation steps. It does not issue deletion, resize or reservation-purchase instructions from billing data alone.
Azure cost teardown FAQ
Before you drop in the export.
Does Accepire receive or store my Azure cost export?
No. The CSV is read and analysed inside your browser. It is not uploaded to Accepire, stored in a database, or attached to an enquiry. If you later book a review, you decide what evidence to share.
Which Azure Cost Management export should I use?
Open Daily costs in Azure Cost analysis. Leave the default cost metric, use no budget, Group by Resource, choose Daily granularity, Table display, no filters and the last three months. Click Download, then Save as CSV. Upload that file unchanged. Date and a supported cost column are required; resource, service, group, tag, pricing and charge fields improve the findings.
Can this tool tell me which Azure resources to delete or resize?
No, and it should not pretend to. A cost export can show movement, concentration, weak allocation and review candidates. It cannot show workload criticality, performance headroom, resource attachments or rollback safety. Those require operational evidence and an owner decision.
Does it work with EA, MCA and CSP Azure exports?
It supports common Azure Cost Management column names across EA, MCA and CSP exports, including CostInBillingCurrency, PreTaxCost and Cost. If required date or cost columns are absent, the tool explains what needs to be added.
Is the Azure cost teardown really free?
Yes. There is no account, email gate or report charge. The browser-generated executive brief and technical evidence report are free to download. A human Azure Cost and Reliability Audit is a separate fixed-fee engagement for organisations that need dependency validation and an approved action plan.
